Longtime Jewelry Store Owners Gift Newtown Family Business Of 60+ Years To Employees
The longtime owners of an Atlantic County jewelry store have given their family business to a group of their employees. Harvey and Madalyn Rovinsky handed over the keys for Bernie Robbins Jewelers in Somers Point to five employees during a special ceremony on Tuesday, May 7, according to a news release. Their family had owned the jewelry store on New Road for 62 years before passing ownership on to the group. A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of rape charges after a two-day trial and 30 minutes of jury deliberations this week, authorities announced. Timothy Barker, 48, of Leola, was between the age of 40 and 44 at the time of the abuse, which began in 2018 when Barker was in a caregiving role to the victim, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office said. A Monroe County contractor is accused of pocketing tens of thousands for work he didn't perform, officials say. The District Attorney's Office said Garry Dobson is charged with home improvement fraud, deceptive business practices, and related counts. According to prosecutors, a pair of homeowners gave Dobson a $45,000 deposit to build an addition to their home in June of 2022. Authorities in Lower Saucon Township are looking for a car burglar. Police said the pictured suspect stole multiple credit cards from one vehicle and tried to enter others. It happened early Tuesday morning, May 14 on the 1700 block of Brad Lane, the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Obrien’s Court, the 1700 block of Deer Run Road, and the 1700 block of Hawthorne Road. A now-former Bethlehem school resource officer is accused of sexually assaulting a student at East Hills Middle School, authorities said in a release.
