Leonia Recreation Organizes Spring Break Programs

LEONIA, N.J. -- The Leonia Recreation Department has several offerings coming up, including for spring break. Here are the details:

Athletic Advantage: Speed and Agility Camp, instructor John Lorenzo -- This class will provide athletes who participate in any sport to enhance their skills in speed, agility and explosiveness, with proper injury prevention training.

Monday, April 4, through Thursday, April 7 -- 6-7:30 p.m. for fourth- and fifth-graders, 7:30-9 p.m. for sixth- through eighth-graders -- at the Rec Center Gym -- $135

Minds in Motion: Chemical Creations -- Minds in Motion offers after-school science workshops for kids. "Experience a hands-on world of fun as you conduct a variety of scientific experiments." Kids will make and take home a wide assortment of things they've created -- including a growing cube or sphere, play dough from scratch and green slime.

Monday through Friday, April 11-15 (spring break), 9 a.m. to noon -- for 6-12-year-olds -- in the Rec Center Art Room -- $165

Minds in Motion: Forklift Robot Workshop – Participants will assemble and take home their very own Forklift Robot, which can be commanded to move forward, backward, turn, grip, lift, and lower. The 3-in-1 robot kit also allows you put your robot together and take it apart to create other two modules, the rover and the gripper. Kids will also compete in our Minds in Motion robotic battles. 

Monday through Friday, April 11-15 -- 12:30-3 p.m. -- for 9-14-year-olds -- in the Rec Center Art Room -- $190

Multi-Sports and Soccer Camp -- In this camp, run by US Sports Institute, players will experience up to four different sports each morning, and switch to soccer in the afternoons. Participants will learn new skills and develop their understanding of playing a scrimmage in each sport.

Monday through Friday, April 11-15 -- 5-11-year-olds -- There are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. options. Register here for this program.
