“This will allow us to do additional training with foam techniques with hazards we experience in Teaneck from the railroad and interstate,” Fire Chief Anthony Verley said. “Foam is very expensive.”

Purchasing foam for the department costs $50 a gallon. Teaneck's Fire Department has four platoons, which conduct foam drills twice a year.

The New York City Fire Department determined the National Foam Kidd brand firefighting foam concentrate “firefighting foam” was past its shelf life and has thus exceeded its operational life for firefighting purposes.

The new foam was then donated to Bergen County to then distribute to local fire departments.
