He was the second person to jump from that side of the bridge since construction began to install a suicide-prevention fence on the southbound side -- and the 13th person overall from the span this year, the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
Port Authority police received the report of a jumper from the northbound walkway just after 12:05 p.m., Joseph Pentangelo said.
The last jumper plunged to his death on Sept. 25, the day the construction project began.
The project, scheduled to be completed this year, is part of a $1.9 billion “Restore the George” restoration plan, the authority has said.
The south walk will be closed probably until around Christmas while a temporary fence is erected -- making it necessary to open the north side so that pedestrians and bicyclists on either side of the Hudson can get across.
