A woman who drove onto a concrete barrier, blocking traffic to an entrance ramp to the Lincoln Tunnel, registered more than twice the legal limit on an alcohol test, Port Authority police said.

Lynda Mendez, 29, of West New York, was charged with DWI, reckless driving and willfully disabling a motor vehicle, among other counts, after PAPD officers responding to a 2:30 a.m. call Saturday found her 2015 Chevy sedan on the median that separates the Park Avenue entrance ramp from Boulevard East in Weehawken, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.

The vehicle's position kept others from passing in order to get to the tunnel, he said.

Mendez, who smelled of alcohol, "had trouble standing and maintaining her balance," Pentangelo said.

She was taken into custody and her car was towed off the median and impounded, he said.
