More than five years in the federal pen for Dumont bank robber

Quattara and Jariko Alberto Marzan, both of the Bronx, burst into the Washington Avenue branch of the bank around closing time July 30, wearing ski masks, with Marzan waving a handgun.

They forced the branch manager and a teller to open the vault and then bolted with $148,685, authorities said. Witnesses saw them get into a champagne-colored Honda with specialty wheel rims — not too difficult to spot.

Sure enough, Fort Lee police spotted the vehicle and chased it across the George Washington Bridge into Washington Heights, where there was a crash quickly followed by two arrests.

Quattara, 21, was carrying a bag with about $45,000, including several “bait” bills. The rest of the dough was inside the car, along with a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson used in the robbery.

Marzan pleaded guilty Nov. 23, followed soon after by Quattara.|

U.S. District Court Judge Stanley Chesler sentenced Marzan to 70 months in prison on March 11 before announcing Quattara’s term today.
