11th GWB Suicide Jumper Of 2017 Identified

FORT LEE, N.J. -- The 11th suicide jumper from the George Washington Bridge this year was identified as a 54-year-old marketing executive from Monmouth County.

The former U.S. Air Force serviceman abandoned his car on the eastbound level of the bridge's upper lanes around 2:40 p.m. Sunday and jumped, the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

The body was seen in the middle of the Hudson River water south of the bridge.

The NYPD harbor and aviation units were directed to the location. Palisades Interstate Parkway police recovered the body.

There were 18 suicide jumpers from the bridge the past two years.
