Brain Cancer Cut Fort Lee Soldier's Service Short, And Now It's Back

Joshua Kim of Fort Lee planned on serving in the U.S. Army for many more months.

His service was cut short, however, when doctors found a tumor in his brain two years ago.

Kim went home cancer free after surgery to remove it in April 2016 and continued on with his life, studying diplomacy and international relations with a music minor at Seton Hall University.

As fate would have it, the cancer came back near his spinal cord -- but surgery is far too risky for 23-year-old this time, he said.

He is hoping to soon meet with new physicians to discuss special medications and an experimental stem cell procedure.

More than $605 had been raised as of Wednesday morning on a GoFundMe, where Kim hopes to raise $4,500, he said.
