Fort Lee Gastropub 'Takes Beer Seriously'

FORT LEE, N.J. — The Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, the Delirium Deliria and the Orval Trappist are just a few of the many unique beers being served up at the Beer Spot & Grille on Lemoine Avenue in Fort Lee.

Director of Operations Joseph Pampinella told Daily Voice his Gastropub offers the largest and most diverse craft beer menu in Bergen County.

"We take beer very seriously here," said Pampinella, who has 24 rotating taps and a selection of 50 different bottles. "I don't know of any place in Bergen that offers a greater selection than us at the moment."

Pampinella has had a long and storied career in the New Jersey craft beer business. He is known for starting the Tap Room in Warren, which was recently rated #1 Beer Bar in New Jersey by beernexus.com.

So when the owner of 2027 Lemoine Avenue wanted to open a beer bar on the first floor of his building below Soho Nightclub, he sought out Pampinella to run it.

"When I took the job I said I wanted it to be a place that people will want to come whether or not the game is on," said Pampinella, who handpicks every beer his restaurant serves.

The Beer Spot & Grille has been very well received since it opened last June, and Pampinella said it's not just because of the beer.

The seasonal menu offers a variety of pub-favorites, including shareable appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and steaks. There is also an outdoor dining area to compliment the 68 indoor seats, daily specials, happy hour deals and a "Beer Appreciation Club."

Pampinella said the goal is to be the best bar and grill in Bergen County.

"We want to be known as the number one bar in the area," he said. "We want to be the place people come to drink and to dine in Bergen County."
