The NNJCF's session defined creative placemaking -- the practice of integrating arts and culture into the fabric of a region, town, or city block.
Key points discussed included how to start creative placemaking, developing a creative placemaking strategy in a community, who to involve, how to succeed, and learning from creative placemaking.
The Summit brought together hundreds of creative placemakers from various fields. Public officials, developers, funders, urban planners, and cultural organization leaders learned and gained insights from others and shared their interests in connecting public policy and the arts.
"The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's ArtsBergen initiative strengthened its position as an advocate and practitioner of creative placemaking in Northern New Jersey by holding a well-attended presentation and workshop at the summit. We are convinced creative placemaking represents a win-win opportunity for any municipality interested in improving quality-of-life and boosting economic vitality in the community," NNJCF's President Michael Shannon said in a statement.
