A roof replacement, masonry work and new windows are part of the makeover, along with a new tax and finance office, the report says.

Snow and ice last winter caused a massive leak and severe roof damage that initiated several of the repairs and changes. The borough then relocated the Building Department, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the chief the Fire Department last May to offices next to Jack Alter Community Center to make them "readily accessible to members of the public," and "make workers more efficient and create a better environment," Mayor Mark Sokolich told northjersey.com.

After the roof came masonry repairs to century-old sections of the building, with much of the work performed by General Services Department and the Department of Public Works, the report said.
