The Grand Avenue victim said she awoke shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday to find the man climbing in through the window of a bedroom where she was sleeping with her 3-year-old son, Leonia Police Chief Jay Ziegler said.

She said she chased him to the kitchen, where he tried to take a laptop. The woman struggled and got the computer back before he took off, the chief said.

As it turned out, he said, the man was a friend of someone she knew. So identifying him wasn’t too difficult.

Leonia police found the basement window open and the screen cut out and removed, Ziegler said.

Yesterday they arrested 22-year-old Angel Solar, who lives nearby in Palisades Park, and charged him with burglary and robbery, Zieger said. Solar, who records show has prior drug and burglary convictions, is being held on $10,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
