Wyckoff PD: Tailgating Drunk Driver Blows Stop Sign, Cuts Off School Bus

WYCKOFF, N.J. – A horn-honking tailgater who blew a stop sign in front of an approaching school bus was drinking in his car, Wyckoff police charged.

Officer Kyle Ferreira was watching traffic in the area of Sicomac and Cedar Hill avenues near the Market Basket last Thursday when he saw the infraction, Lt. Joseph Soto said.

Edward J. Rao, 53, of Hawthorne was charged with DWI, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, following too closely, reckless driving, improper use of the horn, ignoring a stop sign and not having a front license plate. Soto said.

He was released to a family member pending a court hearing.
