FORT LEE, N.J. -- Port Authority police on Tuesday identified a George Washington Bridge suicide victim as a 28-year-old Orthodox woman from Brooklyn.
A motorist reported seeing Rebecca S. Wasserstrum go over the railing of the southside walkway around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
The driver said he got out of his car, looked over the railing and saw her body in the water, he said. The NYPD Harbor Unit retrieved it.
Wasserstrum's car was found at 178th Street and Broadway, two blocks from the bridge.
Hers was the 7th suicide from the bridge in 2016, Pentangelo said. There were 18 last year.
