Witnesses: GWB Driver Stops, Gets Out, Jumps

FORT LEE, N.J. -- A 48-year-old Brooklyn man stopped his car on the upper level of the George Washington Bridge, got out and went over the side Thursday morning, authorities told Daily Voice.

His was the third suicide of the year from the span. There were 18 last year.

An FDNY boat pulled the man from the Hudson River and brought him to Dykcman Marina at 10:22 a.m., Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority Police said.

He was then taken to Columbia University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

No note was left, Pentangelo said.
