Welcome our newest columnist: Maryann Maisano

Maryann Maisano is a gifted singer, songwriter and comedian whose new column deals with coping with life in a stretch along the Hudson River teeming with condos, restaurants — and traffic. Maryann headlines every Friday and Tuesday on: “The Maisano Code.”

Maryann grew up in Fort Lee and knows this area like the back of her hand — which she’ll likely give you if you don’t watch your mouth. And here’s the best part: Once a corporate VP, she gave Wall Street the single-finger “salut” and became a performer, cutting a CD of original tunes, winning an NYC songwriting award, and fielding the all-female, all-Italian comedy troupe ITALIAN CHICKS.

“Boom Boom” Maisano’s got stones, and they aren’t in her rings or necklaces, if y’know what we mean. She deals with the same everyday troubles we do — sitting in the parking lot they call River Road, trying to find a restaurant that doesn’t skimp on the shrimp and basically trying to get by without having to flick her hand under her chin.

Despite a schedule that’s as packed as the ITALIAN CHICKS’ shows, Maryann will headline here every Friday and Tuesday. Cellphones off, please — and no ice picks at the bar.

Critics and reviewers have raved about Maryann’s music as well as her standup. She’s opened for Joy Behar and Ray Romano, and has played The Laugh Factory, Broadway Comedy Club and Dangerfield’s. She has a CD of her own and will be featured on Danny Aiello’s upcoming album, “City of Light.” Judging from the looks of the packed houses, she’ll also be staging plenty more performances with the ITALIAN CHICKS, whose show has been called “part meatball, part cannoli.” For more on Maryann, the group, where they’re performing and how to get tickets, click here: ITALIAN CHICKS.
