UPDATE: Two men were in custody following a police chase that began on the New York side of the George Washington Bridge and ended with a crash under the Jones Road bridge on Route 95 in Englewood.

Port Authority police officers who got a call of two men displaying weapons in the 44th Precinct spotted the suspects’ car at the Macommbs Dam Bridge “and the chase was on across the bridge to 95,” one officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

As they headed toward Jones Road in the express lanes, the getaway driver cut into the local lanes and the vehicle flipped, the officer said.

New Jersey State Police troopers joined the PAPD unit in taking the pair into custody.

Charges were expected to include being fugitives from justice, along with drug and weapons possession counts.

“There’s at least one gun and maybe more,” the officer said.
