Teen who fell from Fort Lee cliffs ‘didn’t deserve to die this way,’ friend says

A FAREWELL: I was so close to John Graniello, not even words can explain how much I love and miss him. I was just with him on Friday at McDonalds. We had an argument two weeks ago and he gave me a cupcake he baked for me in his foods class.

John Graniello

After I left McDonalds to go home, John and I were texting. Then I woke up to a lot of missed calls ‘n text messages on Saturday morning that he died.

A TRIBUTE: “Wish I could go back a year ago today and just stay there,” tweeted 16-year-old John Graniello, the boy who fell to his death Friday night from the Palisades just north of the George Washington Bridge. READ MORE….

Only God can explain how I feel right now.. My body is numb. This is still a dream to me that I can’t seem to wake up from.

I had lunch with John every day. He would call me sometimes saying, “Where you at? I’m in the parking lot waiting for you.”

He always walked me to my 8th period class, or I would walk him sometimes.

My favorite memory with him was 3 weeks ago, when we went to the Fort Lee Madonna carnival together and we went on the rides. He kept smiling at me ‘n held my hand.

I’m heartbroken, hurt, destroyed, weak, lost in my own shadows. I wish I could see him again just once to tell him how much I love him and I cherish all the moments we had together.

The only thing I have left of him is his blue sweater that he gave to me months ago. I will keep it until the day I die.

Visiting is from 7-9 tonight and 2-4 / 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Ave., Fort Lee. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Wednesday at Madonna Church, followed by interment in Madonna Cemetery. Information, condolences, CLICK HERE:

A part of me is gone and forever will be.

He didn’t deserve to die this way. He was way too young. Not my John.

I love you, John,
