CVP ADVERTISER: A new era in a storied 45-year history officially began with a ribbon cutting yesterday at F&D Frame Company in Cliffside Park attended by Mayor Thomas Calabrese and other dignitaries.
Bruce Nubile, George Kolodinsky and Kathi Kolodinsky-Nubile — who all grew up in Cliffside Park — converted what was a custom framing shop on Anderson Avenue into much more, adding a gallery wall that includes fine art, sports collectibles and animation art and hosting special events featuring local artists and photographers.
It’s a family tradition.

Siblings George and Kathi’s mother, Mitzi Kolodinsky, owned and operated Andiamo Art Gallery and Custom framing in Palisades Park 1980-1990.
George Kolodinsky (with scissors in photos), a resident framer with more than 30 years experience, worked for the Anderson Avenue shop’s founder, Frank Gianntonio, and previous owner Joe Sercia.
Nubile (photos, right), a chef by training, is F&D’s business manager.
Marketing and merchandising are handled by Kolodinsky-Nubile (next to her brother), a retail marketing professional who previously worked for Ralph Lauren and Pierre Deux.
Kolodinsky-Nubile recalled how her husband last year “was researching new business ventures and said it was about time to become our own bosses.
“Around the same time George had this business opportunity taking over the framing shop,” she told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “It was the perfect match.”
Going home means a lot to the Mahwah couple.
“We have ties to the community,” Kolodinsky-Nubile said, “so it’s important for us to give back.
“We’re looking to start an art scholarship next year at Cliffside Park High School.”
As local business owners, the F&D principals emphasize personal service that includes hanging, corporate framing, pick up and delivery, extended hours and appointments.
Their inventory also is vast and varied — with movie and sports collectibles, animation cells and drawings, custom mirrors and fine art and photographs by, among others, Lisa Botto Lee, Kevin Dougherty, Andrew Castrucci, Johnathan Fritz, Marguerite, Richard Botto, Bill Menzel and Frank LoBuono.
F&D — a paid CLIFFVIEW PILOT advertiser — also features memorabilia from Palisades Amusement Park and is the only brick-and-mortar store to carry the documentary DVD about what once was one of the East Coast’s greatest attractions.
Attending yesterday’s ribbon cutting and reception were, among others, Borough Clerk Serclan Zoklu and Council Members Kenneth Corcoran, Donna Spato and Dana Martinotti.
The owners thanked Frank Prevete conributed Italian wines and Prosecco, while the DeCarlo Family at Sarge’s Subs donated sub platters and Barricella Electric and Omega Moulding helped prepare the shop for the grand re-opening.
