Port Authority Police Stop Rockland Suicide Jumper At GWB

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Port Authority police said they intercepted a suicidal Clarkstown man before he could jump from the George Washington Bridge overnight Monday.

Fort Lee police found the 26-year-old's car on Hudson Terrace shortly after getting a 12:20 a.m. call, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

Several minutes later, Port Authority officer found him mid-span on the closed southern walkway.

They brought him to Bergen Regional Medical Center for evaluation, Pentangelo said.
