Port Authority Police Rescue Newark Airport Elevator Shaft Victim

NEWARK, N.J. -- A subcontractor was hospitalized with neck and back injuries after he fell down an elevator shaft at Newark Airport, the Port Authority said Thursday night.

The 38-year-old victim's injuries weren't considered life-threatening, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

He was brought to University Hospital after falling into the Terminal B shaft at 7:21 p.m. Thursday, Pentangelo said.

The authority's Emergency Services Unit rescued him.
