YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Queens man who the Port Authority said owed a whopping $28,000 in unpaid tolls — as well as three outstanding traffic warrants — was taken into custody this morning after officers said he tried ducking the fare on the George Washington Bridge.
Marcus Tifa, 34, drove a 2003 Freight Liner tractor trailer with the license plates obscured onto the Fort Lee side of the bridge and through a cash toll lane without paying, Joe Pentangelo of the authority told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
Tifa was being held at the authority’s Fort Lee administration building as police waited for a judge to set bail.
He is charged with theft and tampering with public records.
The truck is registered to Cargo Transfer in Englewood.
