FORT LEE, N.J. -- A driver snagged by Port Authority police at the George Washington Bridge owed $11,540 in unpaid tolls and fees, records show.
Miguel A. Vargas, 31, of Reading, PA also was driving on the suspended list and didn't have registration for the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, which was impounded, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.
Officer Leonel Gonzalez stopped Vargas after he blew through an E-ZPass lane, Pentangelo said.
Vargas was released pending a hearing on charges of theft of services, toll evasion and driving while on the suspended list. He also received several traffic summonses.
