FORT LEE, N.J. -- A toll evader who hit the gas trying to lose Port Authority police on the George Washington Bridge slammed his car into the divider, then got stuck in traffic and was arrested, authorities said Wednesday.
Michael Finnery, 52, of East Orange had his window down when he rolled his 2009 Dodge sedan through the toll booth without paying around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.
As a PAPD officer walked toward him, Finnery gunned it, and the sedan slammed into the divider, Pentangelo said.
He tried to keep going but hit backed-up Cross Bronx Expressway traffic, he said.
Finnery was charged with toll evasion, eluding and reckless driving and also received traffic summonses before being released.
