Borough resident Casey McCann, 40, was ordered held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after registering a blood-alcohol level of .15% -- nearly twice the legal limit, Capt. Scott Tamagny said.

Traffic Officer Michael Clark approached McCann after he made an illegal U-turn into an angled parking space on Broad Avenue in the Central Business District just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Tamagny told Daily Voice.

Clark "detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" and noticed the youngsters while speaking with him, he said.

Backup Officers Maria Perez, Eduardo Millan and John Longo joined Clark.

McCann failed several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, Tamagny said. Police charged him with two counts of child endangerment and DWI.

Arrangements were made for the children to be placed with a caregiver, Tamagny said.
