Workers at the station told responding officers this morning that the baby deer had been there about three days since the adult was killed nearby.

“Officers attempted to give the baby deer water and food throughout the day, and eventually were successful,” Fort Lee Police Chief Keith Bendul said.

The baby deer was brought to the Oradell Animal Hospital, the chief said.

Workers there were arranging to return the fawn to the wild.
