Police closed River Road in both directions while Officer Robert Carrano spoke to the 37-year-old man with a bullhorn from the street and Officers Bekim Dushaj, Dale Price and Dan Massuda went to the roof  around 11 a.m., Police Chief William Skidmore told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Dushaj talked with the man, who was out on a ledge, and eventually convinced him to take his hand, Skidmore said.

The man then was then pulled safely to the roof before being taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, the chief said.

Skidmore thanked Fort Lee police and the Edgewater Fire Department and DPW for their assistance.
