After she called it quits over the weekend, 54-year-old Theodore Drake of Belleville “came back to town, set her car on fire and ran,” Palisades Park Police Chief Benjamin Ramos told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

Witnesses helped police, who found a gas can a couple of blocks away, the chief said.

Detectives believe they may find additional evidence in Drake’s car, which was seized from his job in Jersey City.

“Ted” Drake remained held on $105,000 bail tonight in the Bergen County Jail.

He is charged with threatening to kill the victim, as well as two counts of aggravated arson — with the intent to destroy the car and with the danger of injury.
