FORT LEE, N.J. – Detectives seized $186,725 in suspected drug money from a cab driver during yet another stop in Fort Lee involving a hidden vehicle compartment.
Francisco J. Lopez, 55, of Washington Heights was processed and released pending a hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack after investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stopped him and found the money, Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
The “suspiciously packaged” cash was stashed in an electronically-operated hidden compartment of Lopez’s black 2006 Jeep Cherokee, Grewal said.
Lopez was charged with transporting proceeds from criminal activity.
