FORT LEE, N.J. —  Authorities were seeking the public's help identifying a man whose body was pulled from the Hudson River by New Jersey State Police just north of the George Washington Bridge's north tower nine days ago.

A short time earlier, a witness saw him climb over the south side walkway and jump, the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

He appears between 45 and 50 years old, 5-foot-5 and 151 pounds, with blue/green eyes, a salt and pepper shaved head, scruffy beard and missing upper teeth.

He was wearing black Speedo swim shorts, blue t-shirt and black Nike sneakers.

"He was also wearing hospital socks, has what looks like relatively recent IV punctures in his arms, and displays apparent skin irritation consistent with EKG adhesive pads," Pentangelo said.

Port Authority police canvassed recent patient discharges from hospitals closest to the GWB, including Columbia Presbyterian and a nearby New York State psychiatric facility, with negative results, he said.

Anyone with information that can help identify him is asked to call the NJSP Missing Persons Unit at (609) 882-2000 , ext. 2857, or Port Authority N.Y. & N.J. Police Department at (212) 502-2514 .
