Officer Greg Mulawka spotted several vehicles in the southern end of town with their dome lights on just after 4:30 a.m., Police Chief David Pegg told Daily Voice.

Then he saw 38-year-old Robert Harris carrying several items and stopped him, the chief said Wednesday afternoon.

Harris "provided false information regarding his identity, then fled on foot" but was quickly caught by Mulawka and Officer Shawn Patton, Pegg said.

Harris resisted, threatening the officers, before being subdued, he said.

Assisting were Rochelle Park police and Bergen County Sheriff’s officers, the chief said.

A judge ordered Harris held on $47,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with five counts of burglary to auto, two each of resisting arrest, making terroristic threats and obstruction and one each of hindering and theft.
