FORT LEE, N.J. -- A Fort Lee man remained held on $500,000 bail in New York City after authorities accused him of being drunk when his BMW hit a mother of four, knocking her off a Brooklyn-Queens Expressway bridge to her death.
Vladimir Menin, 43, who police said was driving with a suspended license and had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, faces 16 charges, including aggravated vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving, the NYPD said.
Aissatou Diallo, 49, of Staten Island was struck just before 3 a.m. Monday as she stood outside her Chevy after a tire on an SUV driven by a relative went flat while she and family members were returning from a wedding in Queens, they said.
Witnesses reported seeing the BMW sweved around one car, hit another, then strike Diallo before trying to flee on foot, police said.
