A judge ordered Edgar Ordonez held on $250,000 bail in the Passaic County Jail on carjacking and related charges, county Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Mark Centurione said Friday night.

An additional $75,000 bail was tacked on for the domestic violence charge, they said.

Police from Nutley and Clifton responded to the call at a Cathedral Avenue home at the border of both towns early Friday, authorities said.

Ordonez suddenly “took control of a Nutley police vehicle and injured an officer while attempting to flee the area,” Valdes and Centurione said in a release.

Ordonez then fled on Route 3, slammed the cruiser into an SUV at the Passaic Avenue exit ramp and was arrested by Clifton police, they said.

The driver "was all whacked out on some kind of drug -- not sure if it was PCP or what," a law enforcement official with knowledge of the incident told Daily Voice.
