Affectionately known as "Bud," McVey was a lifelong Maywood resident always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor and anyone in need.
A member of PBA Local 102, he was a police officer with the Maywood Police Department for 25 years, retiring in 2009. McVey was a DARE officer for many years in Maywood and he started the first National Night Out event in Maywood which continues today.
The guestbook on the funeral website was flooded with fond memories of McVey, memorializing him as compassionate, hilarious and a good neighbor.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lila Lee (nee Czwazka); his daughters, Tara Lee and Shannon Lee; his granddaughter, Lana Lee; siblings Kevin Patrick and Patricia DeSimone-Lynch; and his adopted boxer, Spike.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church in Maywood on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.. Donations may be made in his name to the Red Cross or the USO.
