Majority Whip, Aides Shot At Baseball Practice Prior To Congressional Game

Congressman Steve Scalise and one or more aides were among those shot at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., on Wednesday morning, according to NBC News.

There have been reports that the gunman was shot and was in custody following the incident, which reportedly occurred after 7 a.m. at Alexandria Simpson Baseball Field. NBC News is reporting that as many as 50 shots were fired.

Scalise, the Republican Majority Whip, represents Louisiana. He was seen crawling into the outfield after being shot, NBC News is reporting.

There has been no word on the extent of the injuries to any of those involved.

The practice was being held before the annual Congressional baseball game scheduled to be played Thursday at the Washington Nationals' baseball park.
