A GMC Acadia with New Jersey license plates struck the rear of a truck that was stopped in the left lane under the apartments on the Washington Heights side of the bridge around 9 p.m., the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.

The crash killed young Marianna Pedercini and the SUV driver, 50-year-old Hector Pedercini, Pentangelo said.

It injured three other occupants: a 1-year-old girl and two women -- one 64 and the other 40, he said.

All were taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, where the father and daughter were pronounced dead, Pentangelo said.

The 59-year-old driver of the 2008 International truck wasn't injured, he said.
