Makroulakis and his wife posted up a free book house near their front yard about a month ago to get a little more mileage out of all the children's books they had lying around.

"We had given tons of books to our younger nieces and nephews and still had more," Makroulakis said. "We had seen these free libraries in other communities and even an adult on here in Leonia a few yars ago. We decided to build one here for kids."

Makroulakis said they've had a good number of kids and their parents take advantage of the book house, including one little resident who worked through four different books in one weekend.

Makroulakis encourages kids and parents to visit the free book house and swap out some of their old books as well.

"A lot of the parents loved the idea to get rid of some of their books," Makroulakis said. "Plus, other libraries close. This one never does."
