FORT LEE, N.J. — Happy 103rd birthday to Fort Lee native Freda Riecken!
Born on May 23, 1914, Riecken grew up in Fort Lee and is the daughter of a Lutheran minister.
Her family was displaced, when the George Washington Bridge came through.
Riecken married the love of her life, William Riecken II, only to be widowed in 1961, having to care for 5 children ages 2 to 19.
She moved the family from Cresskill to Closter in 1952, where she lived until 2004, then took an apartment in Norwood.
Since 2013, she has been cared for at Bergen Regional Home in Rockleigh, where she resides today, often visited by her surviving children, Pastor Holsten and the Ladies Aid of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Closter.
