Catherine "Kay" Nest who was 90 when she died in December, served as chairwoman of the Fort Lee Senior Center, Democratic Party, Parking Authority and Housing Authority.

She was also vice chairwoman of the Bergen County Democratic Party and the Fort Lee Film Commission.

"Dick and Kay Nest were two of the most important people this town has ever had in its history from a political and charitable standpoint," Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich told attendees.

"We have big plans for the senior center but we felt it appropriate to rename it now because as it gets bigger we want Kay Nest to grow with," he added.
