Super Bowl Sunday is now set: It will be the Denver Bronco’s vs the Carolina Panthers on Feb. 7. The seasoned Peyton Manning vs. the showboat Cam Newton, It’s going to be a great game. However, where you view it, will make all the difference.

About 10 years ago I decided to turn a very quiet restaurant night into a busy and fun evening of football, food and fanfare. Each year on Super Bowl Sunday at both my X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers and Restaurant X in Congers, we install huge big screen TV’s so that guests can watch the game and commercials from their dining room table.

Guests arrive about 5 p.m. and enjoy a cocktail party and a lineup of passed hors d'oeuvres with the addition of sushi or oyster bar depending on the venue. For the game, tables are set with snacks ranging from truffled popcorn to antipasto. At halftime, we serve the ultimate tailgate buffet with everything from our legendary Cowboy ribeye to rack of lamb and grilled salmon.

During the fourth quarter, we pull out all the stops with an array of desserts passed tableside. Of course, there is a full open bar and a chance to win if you choose the correct “box”.

This is how I celebrate Super Bowl Sunday, so slip on your favorite football jersey and jeans and join me as we celebrate “Game Day” Xaviars style.
