Fort Lee Church Rummage Sale Aids Operation Christmas Child

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Fort Lee's First Reformed Church of the Palisades is having a rummage sale on Saturday, Oct. 8,  to benefit needy kids across the globe.

An Oct. 8 rummage sale will help ship gifts to kids in war-torn and other imperiled areas.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase items and toys for the church's Operation Christmas Child packing party.

Operation Christmas Child collects shoe boxes filled small toys, hygiene items and school supplies, to distribute to kids "affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine and disease," the website notes.

There's also an online "Build a Shoebox!" option, where, for $25, people can choose the gender and age of the recipient, as well as the items in it, and Operation Christmas Child will ship the box.

The rummage sale will be between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the church, 2420 Lemoine Ave., in Fort Lee.
