This event will raise funds for the Bergen County's Tracers program, which works to assist homeless veterans and link them to community-based and VA sponsored programs and benefits.

According to Fred Hayo, who serves as a Bergen County Veteran Services Management Specialist, the exact number of homeless veterans in Bergen County is unknown, but it is estimated at more than 100. The charity race is a good step towards getting these men and women the help that they need and deserve, he said.

“We're all very excited and enthusiastic about the 5k run and hope that it's a huge success so we can help Tracers,” said AJ Luna, director of Veteran Services for Bergen County.

The 5k Tracers Run/Walk will be held at Overpeck County Park in Leonia from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
