The not-for-profit Northern New Jersey Community Foundation based in Englewood gave the grant to the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund at the Academies@Englewood.

The 11th annual Englewood Idol will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8  at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood.

The talent competition draws students from Englewood attending high school. The foundation has supported the talent competition since its inception in 2005.

"We are pleased to award this grant, which aligns with the mission of the NNJCF's ArtsBergen initiative to use creative placemaking -- the practice of integrating arts and culture into a neighborhood, town or region -- to bridge diversity, build community and livability, and boost the local economy," said Michael Shannon, the foundation's president.

Tickets to Englewood Idol are available for purchase at the main offices of Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies@Englewood, and Janis E. Dismus Middle School.
