Leonia Chamber Musicians Announce 2016 Concerts

LEONIA, N.J. -- The Leonia Chamber Musicians Society Inc. announced two concerts for its 2016 season, which will feature the music of composers Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert.

The group will present its "Warm Music on a Winter Afternoon" concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at Leonia United Methodist Church, 396 Broad Ave., Leonia. The concert will feature the Schubert Bb Trio for piano, violin and cello with concert pianist Steven Masi.

The Sunday program also will feature Concerto da Camera for flute, English horn and piano by the innovative 20th-century composer Arthur Honneger, and a string quintet with double bass by George Onslow, a mid 19th-century composer whose music was admired by Beethoven.

The Leonia Chamber musicians will celebrate April is poetry month with music inspired and structured by poetry, featuring the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with clarinetist Alan Kay. The group also will perform the Italian Serenade by Hugo Wolf for string quartet and the beautiful Chansons Madécasses by Maurice Ravel for voice, flute, cello and piano. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church,150 Park Ave., Leonia.
