Professional musicians who regularly teach or perform with major New York and worldwide concert halls will invite guest artists to perform classical music selections, as well as those just learning about chamber music.

“It’s not formal, and it’s not stuffy,” said President Daryl Goldberg, a cellist. “People have a chance to socialize with the musicians afterwards in an intimate environment, over champagne and some really nice desserts."They can tell them what they liked and what they didn’t like about the selections.”

Proceeds from the $50-per-person event support the society’s 2016 concert season. The new year includes a pair of performances scheduled in Leonia. The group hopes to showcase local talent, while bringing quality performances to the community at an affordable price.

“The event gives us an opportunity to perform music that we don’t always get to play, and it gives audiences a chance to stretch their ears," Goldberg said. "So that’s why I always share a few comment about the pieces."

The society will host a Tues. Feb. 2 "Warm Music on a Winter Afternoon,” concert at 4 p.m. at the Leonia United Methodist Church. For National Poetry Month, they will perform during a Sun. April 24 concert at All Saints Episcopal Church. Tickets for both events are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, and free for students under age 18.
