FORT LEE, N.J. --  What do you do if you want to plant a garden but only have a small space? Fort Lee Library is partnering with Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange on Saturday, Aug. 6 for a lecture and hands-on program to inspire “Gardening in Small Spaces.”

Learn about Container Gardening, Straw Bale and Trellis Gardening, Raised Bed, Square Foot and Lasagna Gardening and discover which method or combination of gardening techniques you should choose.

Leave with the knowledge of how to get started growing healthful, all-natural food in a tight space. Play with dirt and take home a starter plant after the lecture.

The lecture and hands on program starts at 11 a.m. and will be presented by Linda Grinthal, owner of Sunset Vista Community Garden & Learning Center, Inc. , a non-profit 501c3 organization located at Sunset View Farm in Andover Township.

Known as Sussex County’s teaching farm, Sunset Vista has been hosting school field trips, workshops, and survival garden events since 2009. Sunset View Farm is also the home of Andover’s community garden, with 56 garden plots overlooking the mountains.

Grinthal and her volunteers and members tend the plots and do farm chores that contribute to the group’s community spirit and well-being.

Space is limited, registration required. Register online .
