Fort Lee's Verismo Opera Schedules Auditions For Principal Conductor

FORT LEE, N.J. -- Verismo Opera Maestro Anthony Morss will step down at the end of the season and the opera company will hold auditions for a new principal conductor/music director on Oct. 6.

"Anthony Morss is a conductor of the highest caliber and a true gentleman," said Artistic Director Lucine Amara. "His constant dedication to Verismo Opera has been beyond reproach. Maestro has shared his wealth of knowledge with each and every artist, pianist and orchestra member he has come in contact with. His deep love of music and willingness to share this love has to us has been more precious than gold. We will all miss his tall slender figure on the podium."

Auditions will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 60 West 66th St. and Columbus Avenue in New York City.
